I loved this. I am new to the business and am an independent contractor right now and love knowing what is coming. I think I will learn so much from you both!
Thanks for this podcast!

Thank you, Amy 🙂 We’re glad you’re here!
When I raise fees (every 2-3 years), I plan the increase for Jan. 1 and announce it to my clients 4-6 weeks in advance (around Thanksgiving), with an offer to prepay for as many sessions & gift certificates as they want at the current price, with a 3-month expiration to use the pre-paid sessions. Many clients jump at this chance, especially because I time it to coincide with holiday gift certificate sales. I’ve never lost a client from fee increases. In fact, I have the highest fees in my town and it’s very client-attractive because people equate price with value. People expect price increases every so often, just as we have to pay more at the grocery store and the gas pump. We don’t necessarily like it, but we accept it as the price of getting what we want & need.
Exactly. I like your style.
Thank You Donna! I like your style too!
Great use of math! It’s a requirement for owning a successful business that we shouldn’t be afraid of.
Valid points all around. Really like the conversation back and forth about money styles, dialog with ourselves and our fears. Feeling more confident. Thanks y’all.
Good podcast and thank you for the math of ‘a few less clients and you’re still ok because of price increase’.
